Here’s the cover of a book I made for graphic design class, about the legendary Saul Bass’ movie posters. I don’t have access to indesign right now, so I’ll post the full thing later. This I made in Adobe Illustrator, based on the most iconic photo of the man that I could find. I threw it together real quicklike after an all-nighter working on the damn book, and it’s probably the best looking part of it.

I made this for my graphic design class, we had to make an educational poster that communicated something interesting about an element (in my case, Neodymium or Nd60). I wanted to get away from using the computer, although I wish I’d done digital tone instead of markers. But hey, you learn from the dumb decisions you make at 4 in the morning! I fixed as much as I could in photoshop, short of redoing all the tone (I don’t quite know how I would go about redoing that in PS, yet).
The comic is based on a true story, which you can read about here (BLOOD+GORE WARNING).

These are slightly redone versions of some travel posters I had posted aaaaages ago. I redid them for a show at MECA; I added details, improved the typography, and fixed some other composition issues. The Cas-Ffol Eom one is the most changed. These are for locations in the world that my planned comic takes place in, and I’ve started working on it for real now so expect more stuff related to that in the future.

Some Plans and My Own Work

As soon as the semester is over and I have time (this is the last week!) I’m going to post a whole bunch of art from this semester, and then start a few projects, some of which will get posted up on here as I work on em. I’ve been neglecting this for way too long!

Career Timeline: 1984 - City of Fire

In 1982, Moebius met an aspiring artist named Geof Darrow, who sought Moebius out while working on Tron in Los Angeles. They became friends and, two years later, collaborated on a portfolio of prints that they called La Cité Feu, or City of Fire. Consisting of 8 prints, Darrow penciled each piece while Moebius inked and colored them. City of Fire had a print run of only 500 copies, making it one of the rarest of Moebius’ publications.

Ok the sound you are hearing right now is all of my dreams coming true because this is a thing that exists. I cry a single tear of joy….    T-º

Jean Henri Gaston Giraud, aka Gir, aka Moebius
8 May 1938 – 10 March 2012
I’m at a complete loss for words right now. His influence on my life is more profound than I can properly express. I think I’m going to get offline for a while and read comics made by an untouchable genius. Wishing you all the best.
Goodbye, Jean.

Wow, I don’t know what to say… this man’s incredible artwork has been a huge influence on my own artistic development recently… he will be missed.
RIP Monsieur Giraud. Though you are gone, your creations will live on in imaginations all over the world.
